Flavorwire drew the line in the sand about celebrities who glom onto Bettie's name and iconic image just to generate attention. As far as Flavorwire is concerned, this continuing trend reflects celebs jumping the shark.

Flavorwire's remarks are copy/pasted below for your consideration. Do chime in with your thoughts!

Included in their examples is the Jenna Jameson/PETA ad for pleather. Coincidentally, on June 9, 2010, AdLand.TV posted this remark about that ad:

> chooses porn stars as spokespeople, and at least here they are equal opportunity
> employers as they've used Ron Jeremy to illustrate a spay/neuter ad. Har har.

Due to the number of attachments, they will continue into the next post.

Regarding the Juliette Lewis photo, she didn't limit her lookalike attempt to Bettie. Go to BlackBook mag to see who else's look she emulated:

Three more emulators:

* Renée Zellweger (from February, 2005 - W magazine)

* GQ loves to write about Bettie in any way they can. October, 2006's GQ had Megan Gale trying out the Bettie Page look and poses. This one came with a crop and a look that said Mistress Megan was vexed!

* The above mentioned Juliette Lewis photos showed her emulating various people. This was Juliette's attempt to be Bettie Page.

More coming in the next post!

The last three emulators:

* Well, not Bettie. It's Mary Louise Parker in a classic 1950s cheesecake shot. Of course, during the 1950s, there wouldn't be a marijuana leaf on prominent display. Then again, her hit comedy, "Weeds," about a marijuana dealing suburban mother, would never have made it to 1950s primetime TV line-ups!

* Katy Perry's cover art for her single, California Gurls -- the source of the blue Bettie Page wig.

* Kathy Griffin's Bettie-themed shots by Mike Ruiz.

Who knew Renée Zellweger did Bettie? Maybe I should ask her to narrate the film in her "Roxy" voice from "Chicago" the movie of the musical. Thoughts anyone?

I knew! I just couldn't remember who did the layout off the top of my head.

I didn't think Renée looked anything like Bettie. Another shot's attached, since you didn't seem to see the magazine.

The magazine came out in February, 2005. Renée was on the cover and in a photo pictorial in W Magazine, allegedly dressed as Bettie. Photographer: Michael Thompson.

Best to figure out who at W was the person who wanted Bettie emulations. It may have been little more than a desperation publicity stunt because Renée was on the cusp of promoting "Cinderella Man" for Ron "Opie" Howard, who's currently shooting in Chicago.

Are you yanking our collective chains? What does Roxy have to do with Bettie?

Also... FYI.... Renee is tagged as being in yet another Bridget Jones movie. Currently untitled/in development.
