She isn't a crazy Bettie fan like me, which I really can't blame her for since she has had to deal with my obsession most of her life.
I've seen your posts about having a passion for collecting Bettie figurines, but I've never seen anything from you about what originally lit the fire under your Bettie passions. Can you give us a Reader's Digest recap about how you first found out about Bettie, what appealed to you about her, and why she became an obsession?

I will never forget though, when she was in 7th grade and had to choose someone famous to do a book report on and she chose Bettie. Her teacher said it wouldn't be appropriate
Out of wild curiosity, what reason did the teacher give about why it wouldn't be appropriate? Was it that they didn't want show and tell of Bettie's hot body around hormone driven adolescents, or was it because Bettie has never been (as I've posted all over the place around this Forum) famous?
Harry Knowles (of Ain't It Cool News) used the phrase "cult famous" to describe Bettie, but it hit me as off-kilter due to its contradictory logic. To be famous, one must be a household name, with an instantly recognizable photo. I have lost count of how many people stare blankly at Bettie's photos. Being a cult figure is far removed from fame.
Bettie's pop culture influences have raised her cult bar, but that bar has yet to cross into the "fame" range. Herb and I doubt Bettie will ever be famous.

P.S. Speaking of Harry Knowles, I spotted a blurb posted around an hour ago... special for comic book geeks under convention-going rubrics who adore the San Diego con. So,
Mark Mori!.... get your documentary into another documentary by going large while they're filming! It could be the documentary version of Certs!.... two docs in one!?!
